On the night of January 29–30, on the Rod Laver Arena court in Melbourne, Australia, where the Grand Slam tournament Australian Open 2026 is currently taking place, a men’s singles semifinal will be played.
World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz of Spain will face Germany’s Alexander Zverev. Sasha is ranked No. 3. Their head-to-head record is tied (6-6). One of the most intriguing matchups on the men’s tour.
Two years ago, the younger Zverev dealt “Carlitos” a rather painful defeat in the quarterfinals of the Australian major (6:1, 6:3, 6:72-7, 6:4). Today, Carlos will try to get revenge and reach his first final at this Slam.

On his way to the semifinals, the decorated Spaniard hasn’t dropped a single set to his opponents. In the quarterfinals, he beat local favorite Alex de Minaur.
Alexander faced a few more problems over the course of the tournament. He finished just one match in three sets; the others went the distance. The day before, the German overcame the challenge of 20-year-old American Learner Tien (6:3, 6:75-7, 6:1, 7:67-3).
Alcaraz is the clear favorite for the upcoming match, nevertheless, Sasha has what it takes to make the Spaniard work hard.
