On December 29, at the Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul (USA), where the 2026 World Junior Hockey Championship (U-20) is underway, a group-stage match will take place.
In the 3rd round of Group A, Germany will face Sweden.
The German team lost both of its opening matches. First, Tobias Abstreiter’s side fell to the hosts, the USA (3:6), and then to Slovakia (1:4). Germany is in a very difficult position and will most likely have to fight for a place in the knockout stage in the final round against Switzerland.
Sweden opened with a win over Slovakia (3:2), then defeated Switzerland (4:2). The third period proved decisive against the “Crusaders”, as Magnus Hävelid’s team scored three unanswered goals. Lucas Pettersson scored twice, including the winner.
