On May 25, at the Swiss Life Arena in Zurich, Switzerland, where the 2026 Ice Hockey World Championship is underway, a group-stage match will take place.
In the 6th round of Group A, the United States national team will face Hungary.
The Americans are frankly having a disastrous tournament and risk missing the playoff round. And let us remind you that the “Stars and Stripes” are the reigning world champions and Olympic gold medalists in Milan.
The day before, Don Granato‘s team suffered a fiasco in its match against Latvia (2:4), as a result dropping to 6th place in Group A for the time being. The North Americans collected just 5 points in the previous 5 rounds.
Hungary’s team was considered an underdog from the outset and had no hopes of reaching the playoffs. It is worth noting that Gergely Majoross‘s team achieved its minimum objective. In the 3rd round, the Hungarians routed Great Britain (5:0), thereby securing their place in the elite division for next season.
