On June 17, a 2026 FIFA World Cup group-stage match will take place at NRG Stadium in Houston, USA.
In the opening round of Group K, Portugal will face the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Uzbekistan and Colombia are also in the group alongside the current opponents.
The “European Brazilians” will make another attempt to win the world’s most prestigious trophy. At the last World Cup in Qatar, Portugal bowed out in the quarterfinals, losing rather unexpectedly to Morocco (0:1). The current team is coached by renowned Spanish manager Roberto Martínez.
DR Congo qualified for the World Cup for the first time since 1974. The Congolese left traditional African football powerhouses Cameroon and Nigeria behind in the race to qualify for the showpiece event, held every 4 years. The team is led by French coach Sébastien Desabre. He has built a competitive team capable of achieving its goals.
