On the night of November 15–16, the numbered fight show UFC 322. will take place at the famous “Madison Square Garden” in New York (USA).
The main event of the evening will be a fight for the UFC welterweight title (up to 77.1 kg). The reigning champion, Australian Jack Della Maddalena, will face Russia’s Islam Makhachev.
Islam has decided to test himself in a new weight class. His chances of winning the welterweight title are quite high.
Jack Della Maddalena made his mixed martial arts debut in 2016. He began his journey to the UFC with the little-known local promotion “Eternal MMA,” where he suffered his first two defeats. This difficult start did nothing to dampen his ambitions; moreover, he has not tasted defeat in the MMA cage since.
He won the UFC title in May this year at the Canadian event UFC 315, where he defeated Palestinian-American Belal Muhammad by unanimous decision.
As for Islam, no special introduction is needed. He is following in Khabib Nurmagomedov’s footsteps, but unlike his friend, he has decided to move up a weight class and add the welterweight title to his collection. Will he succeed? We’ll find out very soon…
Makhachev has four successful defenses of his lightweight title (up to 70.3 kg). In his most recent bout at UFC 311, he had no trouble with seasoned Brazilian Renato “Moicano” Carneiro. A submission victory in the very first round.
MMA records: Jack Della Maddalena (18-2) – Islam Makhachev (27-1)
Born in Perth, Australia, he is a striking specialist. A very determined and well-trained fighter. The Australian puncher will try to keep Islam at a distance, striking him from afar.
Makhachev is a renowned grappler who is constantly improving his striking skills. It seems he will try to score a takedown and deal with the Australian on the ground, where he has a vast arsenal of submission holds.
